San Antonio Lifeguards of Peru
Situated 80 kilometers south of Lima, Peru, San Antonio Beach stretches between the districts of Chilca and Mala, precisely at kilometer 79.5. The dedicated lifeguards, affectionately known as "los salvavidas," undergo rigorous training sessions every morning from 9 to 11:30 am.
Their routine kicks off with a challenging 5-kilometer run along the entire stretch of the beach. Following that, the salvavidas engage in comprehensive upper and lower body training. The session concludes with a demanding 25-minute swim, navigating through the bay's currents and covering an additional 2 kilometers along the coastline.
These lifeguards, far more than mere shore guardians, are everyday individuals who willingly shoulder the responsibility of safeguarding lives. Balancing demanding day jobs, they voluntarily dedicate their mornings to this crucial role, going above and beyond to ensure the safety of beachgoers.
Los Salvavidas series expresses its heartfelt appreciation to these heroes, acknowledging their dedication to the preservation of life and the cultivation of a secure environment along the captivating shores of San Antonio Beach.
