Polo in Lima, Peru
On Saturday, I checked out this fast paced and graceful sport, greatly involving the statue of the horse and player. I arrived at the polo match unprepared and not very informed.
After quickly checking out the internet and reading into the game, I was surprised to learn that the origins of polo go back to Persia, where it became a national sport, played by the nobility and military men. After it’s success in Persia, it spread to Constantinople, Tibet, south of India, China and Japan. I found this all very fascinating, because hundreds of years later and I find myself watching polo in Peru.
These are a few of my favorite pictures snapped at this match. Enjoy🙌✌️
